Dolomiti Superski – an Italian carousel
It is the largest ski region in the world where you can ski using only one skipass. It is located in Trentino Alto Adige region in the north part of Italy. More and more Poles come there every year. There is nothing surprising that in the region there are 450 ski lifts and more than 1200 km of ski runs at the bottom of majestic Dolomite. If you have a Dolomiti Superski pass you can go to Val di Fassa to a town called Moena or Val di Fiemme. There are free of charge shuttle buses for skiers.
A little bit further a town San Martino di Castrozza is located. Driving there is difficult but views take breath away. In this part of Italy everybody who loves skiing should visit Sella Ronda. For some skiers it is a ski classic but for new ones the loop is a kind of experience. Even intermediate skiers can make the 40 km run around Sella massif. Those who want to come back to the starting point before dusk must hurry. Sella Ronda is a crazy ski carousel and was invented by an Italian engineer. It is possible to ski through four valleys within few hours jumping form one ski lift to another. Orange arrows lead clockwise from Alta Badia resort in direction to Arabby, Val di Fassa and Val Gardena and green arrows lead anticlockwise. It is up to you which starting point you choose. On the way the landscape is chopping and changing. Every now and then we can see new scenery: peaks, rocky faces or tops of the mountains in a shape of towers. It is hard to imagine that million years ago there was swoosh of the sea in the place where Dolomites came into existence from coral reefs. To take a deep breath you can go to the highest beauty spot – Rifugio Maria (2950 m above sea level). The restaurant at the top sometimes serves a glass of champagne for free. Skiers can stop and eat in Rifugo Comici which is famous for fresh fish. They can also relish crabs, oysters at over 2000 m above sea level. Such a dish served in a very extraordinary place may provide as many feelings as skiing down a black ski run of World Cup from Piz la Villa. Thousands of skiers take the Italian carousel but there are not queues anywhere.
