Bansko – the birth of a star
Bulgaria – besides the Black Sea seaside and its beautiful beaches it offers excellent ski slopes. Those who like big-city gloss will choose Vitosh a mountain massif in the neighbor-hood of Sofia. A cable car, a snowpark and chairlifts are waiting for amateur and profession-al skiers and for ski champions.
Likewise in Pamporovo, which is a pearl of all Bulgarian ski stations in the Rodopes mountain range, there are almost 40 km of ski runs, ski schools and pubs just at the slopes. Bansko has been recently the most popular place. It was recom-mended by Alberto Tomba who was supposed to say that it was the best winter ski resort in Eastern Europe. Everybody can find something for themselves on the contrary to Pamporovo where the slopes are quite gradual. Most of 70 km ski trails are equipped with artificial snow system. The resort itself makes an impression – hotels and ski lifts are as brand-new as western ski stations. There are free of charge shuttle buses which run every half an hour. 200 inns and pubs welcome their guests in the town. During folk shows which can be seen in Veselo Selo restaurant there is a possibility to try some regional Bulgarian dishes and strong Rakia.
